Nail Surgery

Nail Surgery is minor surgery which may be required if routine treatments have been ineffective and/or for patients that have had recurring toe infections caused by an ingrown toenail for a prolonged period of time.

The procedure involves numbing the toe with a local anaesthetic, applying a tourniquet, removing part or the whole nail depending on the problem then if required (not always required) applying a chemical to prevent the nail growing again.  The tourniquet is removed and the toe is then dressed.
